Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber issued the following statement on the passing of Sheldon Adelson, chairman and CEO Las Vegas Sands and prominent philanthropist:
“Sheldon Adelson was an iconic business leader who exemplified the achievement of the American Dream in his life and work. From the humblest of beginnings, he built an enterprise and fortune that he readily shared with people in need and the causes he cared about.
“He made unique and generous contributions throughout his life of entrepreneurship, business leadership, advocacy, and generous philanthropy.
“We offer our deepest condolences to his wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson, and join all his friends and family in recognizing his life of extraordinary achievement.”
