The U.S. Chamber of Commerce commends to you Dr. Janet Anderson and Dr. Jennifer Seed to serve as scientific experts for the upcoming Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) assessments. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Seed have the required skills and expertise to offer appropriate counsel to EPA’s Office of Research and Development and our nation to advance needed public health and environment risk and policy improvements.
Dr. Anderson’s and Dr. Seed’s qualifications follow, and we believe they offer a clear rationale for why Dr. Anderson and Dr. Seed should be selected:
Janet Anderson, PhD, DABT, Principal, GSI Environmental, has supported federal and private sector analysis of public health toxicology risk data for more than fifteen years. Dr. Anderson is a national expert especially in unregulated and emerging contaminants, such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), 1,4-dioxane, and 1,2,3-trichloropropane. Her work has included strategies to mitigate human health impacts and risk management, regulatory and clean-up standards development, and strategic research studies. She provided technical and strategic support including identifying innovative approaches to more sustainable projects.
Dr. Anderson managed the U.S. Air Force Engineering Center’s emerging issues and contaminants program and has a long track record of providing input into the federal interagency review process on toxicological assessment and EPA’s Office of Research and Development, among others.
Jennifer Seed, PhD, Independent Risk Assessment Consultant, has a long track record of expertise and engagement in risk evaluations and peer review with companies and government, including developing toxicology profiles and IRIS summaries. She served as Deputy Division Director for EPA’s Risk Assessment Division in the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics managing scientists and producing results in toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics, ecotoxicology, chemistry, and microbiology.
