What a start to 2019.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has been at the forefront of the most important policy debates affecting the business community this year. From leading the charge on fixing our nation’s infrastructure to guiding international trade policy to hosting heads of state from around the world, the first 100 or so days of the year have been remarkably busy ones.
Here is a snapshot of our work thus far:
- Chamber staff met with, hosted, or appeared alongside top administration officials more than 200 times.
- 10 Chamber officials testified in front of Congress.
- Hosted Senior Government Officials from 34 countries, including 10 Heads of State.
- 8 Cabinet members have addressed Chamber gatherings.
- Welcomed more than 80 members of Congress to our Spirit of Enterprise Awards.
- Sent 43 Letters to Congress on behalf of our members regarding legislation, nominations, and committee hearings.
- Hosted 126 events in Washington and around the country.
Among those who have addressed Chamber events and the Chamber board since the start of the year: Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta; Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao; U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, then-Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon, former Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Director of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow, and Senior Advisor to the President Jared Kushner, among dozens of other key administration officials.
And that’s all right here in the nation’s capital. Looking beyond Washington, we have hosted thousands at Small Business Summits, workforce academies, veteran hiring fairs, and events with our incredible federation of local chambers and trade associations.
No doubt, the next 100 days will be just as busy – and we’re ready to keep rolling.
