Last week, the world’s eyes were focused on the Big Apple as 193 world leaders gathered for the 74th Session of the United Nation’s General Assembly (UNGA). This year, the U.S. Chamber took center stage during the week by bringing private and public sector leaders together, including hosting events with 14 heads of state. While each event was tailored for different regions and countries, several themes remained at the forefront, including trade, data, health challenges, defense and aerospace, and the use of natural resources. To kick the week off, U.S. Chamber CEO Tom Donohue participated in the Concordia Summit’s fireside chat on the role of business in the global economy, where he stressed the Chamber’s priorities in front of an audience of international thought leaders. Additionally, the Chamber’s U.S.-Africa Business Center hosted the U.S.-Africa Leadership Forum, with keynote remarks from U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, President of Niger, and a panel discussion with the Presidents of Niger, Ghana, and the Vice President of Côte d’Ivoire. The Chamber also hosted the prime ministers of Thailand, Sweden, Bangladesh, and Malaysia.
