WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today launched the U.S.-Kuwait Business Council, with the goal of fostering stronger commercial ties between the two countries. The new Council will work with both private sectors and governments to set priorities and share best practices to advance both countries’ economic competitiveness in a growing global marketplace.

“The U.S. and Kuwait have maintained strong diplomatic ties for many years, and the Chamber is excited to build upon this solid foundation and enhance the commercial engagement of this partnership,” said Myron Brilliant, Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We appreciate the support we have received from many stakeholders in both countries to establish this council, and we look forward to growing this program.”

Over the past two years, the Chamber has made a devoted effort to focus attention and resources on the U.S.-Kuwait economic relationship and create momentum to establish a bilateral business council to ensure both governments and business communities have a dedicated platform to sustain the work and focus on the commercial relationship. The U.S.-Kuwait Business Council is comprised of U.S. and Kuwaiti companies, representing a broad cross-section of industries and sectors.

The new Council is a program within the U.S. Chamber’s Middle East department led by Senior Vice President, Khush Choksy. The Council will be co-chaired by State Street and Ali Abdulwabah Al-Mutawa Commercial Company.
