U.S.-Cuba Business Council
The U.S.-Cuba Business Council is the premier business advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening the economic and commercial relationship between the United States and Cuba.
On September 25, 2015, with support from senior U.S. and Cuban government officials, and in alignment with the demands of the Chamber’s member companies, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched the U.S.-Cuba Business Council.
The long-term objective of the Council is to create a barrier-free economic and commercial partnership between the United States and Cuba. The Council continues to advocate for engagement that will both enhance commercial and investment opportunities for U.S. companies in Cuba, while also affording economic benefits directly to the Cuban people, including, but not limited to:
- reconnection of families through facilitation of remittances and travel;
- support of independent private sector entrepreneurs and small- and medium-sized enterprises;
- advocacy for authorization of U.S. general licenses to provide business-to-business services;
- diplomatic engagement;
- promotion of a more open Internet in Cuba;
- support of agricultural trade with Cuba;
- suspension of Title III of the Cuban and Democratic Solidarity Act of 1996; and
- reassessment of Cuba designations under U.S. laws.
