TO THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce supports S. 3290, the “National Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Supply Chain Database Act.” Members who cosponsor this legislation will receive credit for the Leadership component of their “How They Voted” rating.
By leveraging the MEP network, the bill would establish a national database to increase government and industry insights into U.S. manufacturing supply chains. The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the need for a better picture of America’s supply chain networks. This includes whether some manufacturers should retool in certain areas to meet critical demand for key products such as personal protective equipment, medical devices, food, and defense supplies.
We commend Senators Menendez and Blackburn for crafting bipartisan legislation that should encourage businesses to share information with a network of supply chain data, bolster manufacturer resiliency, and mitigate supply chain disruptions in the face of future crises.
The Chamber urges you to cosponsor S. 3290.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
