Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors today elected a new chair, Mark Ordan, Chief Executive Officer of Pediatrix, the nation’s largest public physician practice company, for a two-year term. Ordan succeeds Chris Lofgren, Ph.D., former president and CEO of Schneider National.

Ordan began his term today after Lofgren passed the gavel at a U.S. Chamber Board meeting.

“During a period of transformative change, Chris was a very powerful and effective chair. In turn, Mark has been a trusted advisor, a thoughtful partner, and a tireless advocate for the Chamber,” said Suzanne P. Clark, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “In business, he is driven by a forward-leaning bias that has enabled him to build and lead thriving companies. On this board, he is driven by a spirit of service and a willingness to dive in. The U.S. Chamber, its Board of Directors, and the business community at large will benefit immeasurably from his leadership as chair.”

Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to volunteer leadership, Ordan has been an active and engaged member of the U.S. Chamber Board since June 2014.

“Throughout my time on the U.S. Chamber Board, I’ve been inspired by the volunteer leaders who generously give their time and expertise to this organization and its mission,” said Mark Ordan. “No one works more vigorously or successfully than the U.S. Chamber to protect and serve the interests of American business. I will work just as hard to lead the board, support the executive team, and serve this vital institution and its members.”

Ordan leads Pediatrix, a national medical group that provides pediatric care in 38 states around its core specialty of Neonatology. He also has led several public companies over the years, including Quality Care Properties, Inc., Washington Prime Group Inc., Sunrise Senior Living, Inc., and The Mills Corporation.

“Mark is a talented executive whose passion and dedication shows through in his work and whose commitment to the U.S. Chamber will continue to usher this organization into the future,” said Chris Lofgren. “He has served this organization with distinction, and he has been a valued counsel to Suzanne and me during a critical time for the Chamber, our nation, and the world.”

In addition to the U.S. Chamber, Ordan serves on the boards of The Carlyle Group and Federal Realty Investment Trust. He is a trustee of Vassar College and The Holton-Arms School.

Ordan received his BA in philosophy from Vassar College and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

The U.S. Chamber Board also elected Brackett Denniston to a two-year term as vice chair, succeeding Ordan. Denniston is Senior Counsel in Goodwin’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice based in Boston and has worked with the U.S. Chamber for almost two decades. He also serves on the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for Legal Reform Board of Directors, including as its chair since 2017, where he has helped to transform the organization into the most influential and successful advocate for civil justice and tort reform in the country. Denniston was previously Senior Vice President of GE and is currently Chair of the Kenyon College Board and Chair of Pioneer Institute Legal as well as a board member of Pioneer.
