WASHINGTON, D.C. -The following statement can be attributed to U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer Neil Bradley.

“For our economy to fully recover from the pandemic, we must get people back to work. As businesses across the country confront a shortage of workers, Governor Ducey has offered a bold reform that other states should consider replicating. Arizona will begin offering a $2,000 signing bonus, childcare assistance, and help with community college for those who are unemployed and return to work. In addition, Arizona will end the $300 weekly supplemental unemployment benefit, which the U.S. Chamber calculates results in one in four recipients taking home more in unemployment than they earned working. We know that there are multiple factors impacting decisions around returning to work, Arizona’s comprehensive approach is a smart way to help the unemployed and help businesses that are trying to fill open positions.”
