The following statement on last night’s election results can be attributed to Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

“The U.S. Chamber was proud to endorse and support pro-business candidates in targeted races for the House and Senate, including dozens of newly elected and reelected leaders who are focused on tackling significant economic challenges in the next Congress. Through voter education, we also made significant gains in key state Attorney General and State Supreme Court races, helping strengthen the business climate in those states.

“We, along with many others who engaged in this turbulent political environment, were disappointed that several excellent candidates who had our strong support did not prevail in their races—they would have been effective voices for business and made a meaningful impact in the next Congress. We are optimistic that the new majority in the House will seize this opportunity to fight inflation and crime, rein in regulation and hold agencies accountable through oversight, and put our economic security front and center. We look forward to working with them, and with members in both Chambers to help deliver the economic relief that Americans need.

“Our government and our country are as deeply and evenly divided as ever. It has never been more important for elected officials to address our nation’s challenges by bridging divides and forging durable solutions – just like business leaders across this country do every day.”
