New Television Ad Highlights West Virginia Citizens “Thanking” Senator Manchin for Standing Up for Them
Washington, D.C. – West Virginia and U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced an extension to their statewide advocacy campaign thanking Senator Joe Manchin for putting West Virginians first as the reconciliation bill looms in the U.S. Senate.
The expanded campaign includes broadcast television advertising and other activities expressing support for Senator Manchin as he continues to put West Virginians first by raising concerns about how the proposed multi-trillion reconciliation bill will add to inflation.
The new television spot, “Thank You, Joe,” features West Virginia citizens thanking the Senator for standing up for their families, businesses, and jobs.
"The business community continues to stand with Senator Manchin as he fights for job creators and the people of West Virginia,” said Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We commend Senator Manchin for his tireless commitment to putting West Virginians first, despite enormous pressures from those who want to pass an ‘everything and the kitchen sink’ spending bill that will only add to inflation over the next year.”
On Tuesday, December 14 the West Virginia Chamber and U.S. Chamber hosted a tele-town hall with more than 6,000 constituents who tuned in.
The West Virginia Chamber and U.S. Chamber have digital billboards going live in Charleston, Fairmont, Morgantown, and White Sulphur Springs to thank Senator Manchin for putting West Virginia first. The chambers are also running full page newspaper ads this Sunday in the Charleston Gazette, Huntington Herald Dispatch, the southern West Virginia papers including those with circulation in Williamson, Coal Valley, Logan, Wayne, and Lincoln, along with the Morgantown Dominion-Post, Wheeling Intelligencer, and the Inter-Mountain.
This latest advocacy program follows a West Virginia specific campaign that launched earlier this month, as well as the release of data from a new survey that found West Virginia voters continue to strongly support Senator Manchin and are opposed to the reconciliation legislation being debated in the U.S. Senate. The survey found Senator Manchin with a 52 percent favorable rating and nearly 70 percent of voters indicate they would be less likely to support the reconciliation bill when learning it would add to inflation in the next two years, raising prices for American families.
The Chamber previously launched television campaigns in September and October, urging Members of Congress across the country to oppose reconciliation. In addition, the Chamber launched an aggressive advertising campaign in November that targeted Members of Congress in Washington, D.C. and highlighted the impact reconciliation will have on inflation.
