WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Chamber of Commerce Vice President for Transportation and Infrastructure Ed Mortimer issued the following statement today regarding the passage of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act:
“A reliable and efficient aviation system is critical to the nation’s workforce, economy, and national security. This bill’s five-year reauthorization will support and strengthen each of these, and provides the long-term certainty the aviation industry needs. The Chamber is disappointed the final bill does not increase investment in the Airport Improvement Program, despite a surplus of over $6 billion in the Airport and Airway Trust Fund. While we will continue to urge prompt investment in these vital programs, we hope to see this legislation signed into law quickly.”
Previously, the U.S. Chamber sent a letter to the House of Representatives in support of the bill.
