WASHINGTON, D.C.- Myron Brilliant, Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement today regarding the U.S.-Turkey relationship and upcoming government talks.
“The recent deterioration in the relationship between the United States and its NATO ally, Turkey, an important strategic and commercial partner, is profoundly concerning. The U.S.-Turkey relationship has proven its value over the years, and every effort should be made to preserve its benefits for both countries.
We are encouraged by President Trump’s decision to dispatch Vice President Pence,Secretary Pompeo, and National Security Advisor O’Brien for high-level talks with the Turkish government. The graduated sanctions the Administration has announced were framed to set the table for this important discussion, and it’s important that the White House be given time and support to allow these efforts to deescalate the situation.”
