Dear Chairman Rubio and Ranking Member Cardin:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the nomination of Jovita Carranza, current Treasurer of the United States, to serve as Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
During her address at the Chamber’s CO—Summit for Small and Growing Businesses last month, Ms. Carranza’s comments on free enterprise and entrepreneurship bolstered our opinion that her leadership and vision would serve her well as SBA Administrator. From her description of her ascent from a part-time box handler to president of international operations for Latin America and the Caribbean at UPS, it was obvious that Treasurer Carranza shares the grit and determination that are common traits among American small business owners.
SBA’s lending programs, disaster assistance, and counseling and advisory network for small businesses are valuable because SBA is able to help business owners where they live and work through the agency’s regional and district offices. We consistently support SBA’s programs and we intend to work with Ms. Carranza’s team in support of our mutual desire for small businesses to prosper.
Thank you for considering our views and please do not hesitate to contact our Vice President for Small Business Policy, Tom Sullivan, at (202) 463-3192 if you have any questions regarding the Chamber’s support for Ms. Carranza’s nomination.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
