Dear Chair Cantwell and Ranking Member Wicker:
The Chamber strongly supports S. 3311, and urges the Committee to consider and expeditiously report this important legislation to end “zombie voting” by former members of the Federal Trade Commission.
Matters subject to votes before the Federal Trade Commission should only reflect the views of sitting Commissioners at the time votes are cast. It should not be necessary to codify the fact that it is clearly unlawful to “stockpile” votes for weeks or months after a Commissioner has departed to be drawn upon at a later date – as current FTC leadership has done – in an effort to cobble together a majority position.
The Chamber applauds Senator Moran and the cosponsors of S. 3311 for their leadership on this issue. We urge swift Committee action.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
